Joshua Tree is one hell of a honeymoon destination. It also makes for an epic wedding location. If you’ve been following along with my blog, you’ll know that I recently semi-eloped to Joshua Tree (all the way from Australia). During the wedding, we stayed in Palm Springs, but opted for a desert Airbnb in the town of Joshua Tree for our honeymoon afterwards.
I wanted to share my wonderful experience staying in an Airbnb for our honeymoon – as well as some pictures which I’m sure will inspire the wanderlust in you!
Why you should book an Airbnb for your honeymoon
There’s something about booking an Airbnb in the middle of the desert that just feels right, ya know? Aside from the warm and fuzzies I get from thinking about the Mojave, we wanted somewhere to really escape after our whirlwind trip and we knew that staying in an Airbnb was one of our best options (photos of the epic pool on the listing didn’t hurt, either!).
What really appealed to us about staying in an Airbnb in Joshua Tree was being able to stay in a unique property with all the comforts of home. Our favourite meal to eat together is homemade spaghetti bolognaise (we even paid homage to the dish in our wedding vows – no joke), and you can bet your bottom dollar we took advantage of the kitchen for this exact purpose. The touches of home are what really make staying in an Airbnb feel so special.
Our amazing Joshua Tree Airbnb
There must be something in the desert air, because there really is an epic selection of Airbnbs to choose from in the Joshua Tree area.
We ended up deciding to stay at Roadrunner Ridge in Joshua Tree. The hosts, Paul and Theresa, were super lovely and were on site some of the time in their own home while we stayed in the guest accommodation.
The whole experience couldn’t have been more perfect. The house was in the ideal location – close to town, but remote enough to feel like we had the whole desert to ourselves. It was a great base to explore all the spots in Joshua Tree. There was an insane amount of places in and around the Airbnb to hang out, and the hosts let us have it all to ourselves. Let me tell you: many a prosecco was had lounging by the pool, and the spa was perfect for stargazing. The cat, Chewy, also kept us company on many occasions. We also spotted many other animals around the property like rabbits and roadrunners.
The attention to detail in the home was also something that stood out. I am a sucker for good design and the Airbnb managed to feel homely, mystical and retro all at once.
Writing about it now, I can’t wait to go back someday!
